Hasbo has shared updates on upcoming Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons entertainment projects during an investor call today. Hasbro's eOne division has confirmed that the upcoming live-action Dungeons & Dragons film will start production this spring. The lead cast of the D&D film has also been confirmed, which includes Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, and Regé-Jean Page.

The live-action D&D film is currently scheduled to release on May 27, 2022, and in addition, eOne confirmed that they were developing multiple D&D TV products, with the goal of releasing the first series soon after the release of the D&D film in 2022.

The eONe division also confirmed that they were developing a feature a feature length Magic: The Gathering film with Fox, but they didn't share any details about the project. Finally, they confirmed that they are still working on the Magic: The Gathering animated series for Netflix, which they plan to release in 2022. It looks like Hasbro has big plans to expand to expand the Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons franchises. Hasbro has also made Wizards of the Coast into its own operating division, and will be tasked with expanding Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, and other existing games, overseeing digital licensing and creating new games for all of Hasbro.

Hasbro also announced its plans to build a new line of Magic: The Gathering products called "Universes Beyond", which will feature MTG cross-over with various other popular franchises. The first one will be with Dungeons & Dragons-themed MTG set, Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures of the Forgotten Realms, which is scheduled to release this summer. In addition to D&D, Universes Beyond will also feature characters and concepts from The Lord of the Rings and Warhammer 40,000

Both MTG & D&D has over 40 million players and have been profitable in recent years. They've also been central to Hasbro's digital growth, largely thanks to the success of Magic: The Gathering Arena
