Comic Book Writer Gail Simone Wants to Write For Magic: The Gathering 'Warrior Lady' After Receiving Cards From Wizards of the Coast


American comic book writer Gail Simone, best known for penning DC's Birds of Prey, recently received a bunch of Magic: The Gathering products from Wizards of the Coast a week after she asked for some board game suggestions, and now she has expressed her interest in writing for one of the card game's planeswalkers, or as she describes it, "warrior lady".

Over on Twitter, Simone, who said that she didn't know anything about Magic: The Gathering, shared some photos of the MTG products she received from Wizards of the Coast, and they include Booster Boxes, Gift Bundles, and Planeswalker Decks from various sets like Throne of Eldraine, Theros Beyond Death, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, and Core Set 2021. She also received a holiday promo card called Topdeck the Halls.

On her Twitter thread, she shared her commentary for the MTG gifts she received, showing her apppreciation for their art and packaging, and in one post, she talked about how she wants to write for this "warrior lady", referring to the Throne of Eldraine art of Rowan Kenrith, a planeswalker from Eldraine who specializes in electrical magic.

Simone is also known for writing stories for Deadpool, Secret Six, Batgirl, and Red Sonja among other comic book titles, and she's considered to be one of the most influential woman in the comic book industry. It would be awesome to see her write a Magic: The Gathering comic about Rowan Kenrith or any other planeswalker. After all, new MTG comics have recently been announced for April 2021.
