Emotionally charged and filled with humor, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 was a pretty successful sequel to James Gunn's first hilarious superhero space romp, earning more than $800 million at the box office during its theatrical run this year. Now, it seems like Marvel is preparing the film for its home release, with the release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on Blu-Ray making its way online.

Appearing on Target's website as a "street date," the Blu-Ray release date of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 comes up as August 22, 2017 – more or less three months after the cosmic superhero movie's debut on the big screen. While this is not an official announcement from Marvel, the three month period between the movies debut and its home release is pretty standard in the Hollywood industry.

However, while the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Blu-Ray release date on Target seems pretty plausible, other stores like Best Buy currently has the film's home release as "Not Yet Announced," making it likely that the August 22 date could be placeholder for the actual release.

Here's the synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2:

Peter Quill and his fellow Guardians are hired by a powerful alien race, the Sovereign, to protect their precious batteries from invaders. When it is discovered that Rocket has stolen the items they were sent to guard, the Sovereign dispatch their armada to search for vengeance. As the Guardians try to escape, the mystery of Peter's parentage is revealed.
