Henry Cavill has finally returned to the set of The Witcher Season 2 after an injury forced him to step back, leading to yet one more delay for the series. Season 2 of Netflix's The Witcher has been hit with a variety of setbacks over the last year due to various reasons, including the pandemic. The most recent setback happened after actor Henry Cavill suffered an injury and was forced to step back from filming the show.
According to Redanian Intelligence, the actor has since recovered and has now returned to the set to finish filming on the Kaer Morhen scenes. One of his costars, Paul Bullion, who will appear as Lambert within the upcoming season, confirmed his return on social media.
As a result of this latest setback, it's also been reported that Season 2 is now scheduled to end filming in March 2021, where it had been originally scheduled to finish in February. There is no official release date for Season 2 was announced, it's been speculated that the premiere of Season 2 will likely be in Fall 2021 rather than the previously estimated release date of August.
Cavill suffered an injury to his hamstring last December when he was on an assault course at Arborfield Studios, where The Witcher was filming. The stunt involved a harness that raised Cavill up to 20 feet into the air.
The Witcher Season 2 originally began filming in February 2020 but was forced to return to a halt in mid-March caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which has caused industry-wide shutdowns across the world. After approximately four months, the UK gave the movie industry permission to continue filming, on the condition that certain health and safety protocols were implemented. Production resumed on The Witcher in August but was forced to pack up for two weeks in November after certain individuals on set tested positive for COVID-19.
The Witcher cast consists of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Joey Batey as Jaskier. The first season is available to be streamed on Netflix.
