I think it's pretty safe to say at this point that the "true" version of Justice League was a monumental triumph not only for the DC Extended Universe but for the entire comic book community as well. But as much as we'd like to see Zack Snyder fully realize his vision for his JL trilogy, it seems like Warner Bros. isn't going to pull the trigger anytime soon despite the positive reaction of the 4-hour superhero extravaganza generated from fans and critics.

We've learned over the last couple of months that Snyder had some pretty insane ideas for how his Justice League trilogy would have unfolded and just when you thought you already knew everything, the ever-so-controversial director is making another revelation — this time regarding Justice League 3 and how he would've wanted it to end and boy, I can already confidently say that it will raise a lot of eyebrows.

Appearing on the DC_Cinematic podcast, Snyder revealed that Justice League 3 would have seen Superman's archnemesis Lex Luthor be given his redemption arc. If that sounded crazy to you, Snyder also shared that Lex would've been instrumental in Darkseid's defeat. He shared: "We talked about that he's in the final battle, he's the one that brings the nuke into Darkseid's spaceship and detonates it himself. It's kind of like he wasn't down with the concept of completely destroying mankind. He didn't realize that was the bet. So that kind of thing is something he would be capable of. He could go all the way."

If you're a bonafide Snyder fan, this new bit probably wouldn't have sounded too crazy and surprising considering his original plans but to casual fans, the idea of the Justice League not being given the honor of ending the Lord of Apokolips is an outrageous idea that is just too hard to fathom. I mean, could you imagine Justice League 3 ending with the focus on Jesse Eisenberg's controversial character?

Justice League is available for streaming on HBO Max.
