Loki's finale episode officially confirmed what a lot of fans have been worried about as early as Episode 2: Loki and Sylvie are actually an item.

Episode 6 finally saw both variants of the God of Mischief give in to the tension between them as they share a controversial kiss which would later cause debate within the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom. However, some people are questioning whether or not the moment they shared was genuine.

While some fans were clearly disgusted by the "unnecessary" scene, others saw it in a completely different way. Some fans were under the impression that Sylvie kissing Loki actually meant nothing and it was just her way of distracting the God of Mischief who was obviously developing feelings for his female counterpart. Ultimately, Sylvie succeeded in manipulating Loki who was sent back to the Time Variance Authority's headquarters.

That theory does make a lot of sense but according to director Kate Herron herself, Sylvie and Loki's smooch was genuine. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Herron dismissed what fans initially thought about Sylki's romantic moments. She explains: "I think for me the kiss was really beautiful because I don't think it was a deception, and I don't think it was a trick necessarily. I think for her, it was almost a goodbye."

Herro added: "I think she does care about him, but it's just her feelings toward having to complete the mission overtook because she's not emotionally in the same place he was. I always think of Sylvie in this episode almost like how Loki was in Thor. She has all this anger and pain, and she isn't necessarily going to make the best decision with it."

I mean, I kinda get why some fans are bothered by the romance angle between the two Loki variants but it's not like we didn't see it coming from a mile away. Personally, I honestly don't mind it, and as odd as it sounds, there's no denying that Tom Hiddleston and Sophia Di Martino share incredible chemistry together so yeah, I wouldn't mind if they continued Loki and Sylvie's weird romance in the MCU.
