Warning: if you haven't seen the finale episode of Loki, this article contains spoilers so read at your own risk!

I think it's pretty safe to say that not a lot of Marvel fans were expecting to like Sylvie's character that much as she's always been portrayed as the villain. As early as the first episode, Marvel Studios' standalone Loki series already began establishing the Loki variant as the main bad who was responsible for wreaking havoc in the sacred timeline. Sure, that may be true but over the course of the series, we get to know Sylvie's true intentions for trying to disrupt timelines.

As the series progressed, fans slowly warmed up to the character and it helped that actress Sophia Di Martino shared strong chemistry with her co-star Tom Hiddleston. However, the studio has been teasing a romance angle between the two Lokis which has divided the entire MCU fandom. Some fans are in favor of the two being an item in the franchise while others find it weird that the studio is even toying with the idea because they're basically the same person.

Previous episodes of the show have slightly hinted that the "relationship" between Loki and Sylvie was purely platonic but Episode 6 finally put an end to all speculation. In the finale episode, Loki and Sylvie shared a controversial kiss that surely shocked the fandom. It all took place in He Who Remains' citadel as they try to unravel the truth behind the Time Variance Authority.

Unsurprisingly, a lot of fans felt the kiss "Sylki" shared was not only unnecessary and hard to watch but didn't really add anything else to the ongoing plot of the show. How about you? What's your take on the romantic ties between the two Loki variants? Check out some of the reactions below:

As much as it feels "odd", I honestly don't mind the brewing romance between Loki and Sylvie and I'd even go as far as saying that it would have been more shocking if Marvel Studios didn't capitalize on their tension. Now that Sylvie has killed Kang (or the remaining version of him, at least), it'll be interesting to see if she'll ever cross paths with Loki again especially now that the sacred timeline has seemingly been reset.

Loki's finale episode is now streaming on Disney+.
