A lot of Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have been dying to get some much-needed update regarding the third Guardians of the Galaxy film which has been in development for a couple of years now and this week, Marvel Studios finally revealed the official release date for the project which will see James Gunn return to his directorial role after his controversial and short-lived firing in 2018.

In the epic sizzle reel Marvel Studios released earlier this week to celebrate the past, present, and future of the Marvel film franchise, it was revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be hitting theaters in May 2023. When you think about it, 2023 is still far away but apparently, Gunn is already feeling a tremendous amount of pressure following the studio's big release plan reveal.

Responding to a fan on Twitter who asked if he feels pressure now that the release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been made public, he simply said no but what actually bothers him is that the film's release date is "so close". He said: "No. But it's a little stressful that the release date is so close. Apparently you and I look at these things differently." Check out his response below:

One would assume that given the fact that Vol. 3 will come out two years from now, there's plenty of time for everyone involved in the film to work on the project. However,
I do get where Gunn's anxiety is coming from because no offense to the other films in the franchise, but the Guardians series is easily one of the more extravagant films in the MCU which means they need all the time in the world to prepare the costumes and set pieces for the project which is never an easy task. And that's just the pre-production aspect of it. You also have to take into consideration the VFX work they need to put in to make sure the film's final cut comes out looking great.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit cinemas on May 5, 2023.
