Star Wars fans have developed a feeling of disdain towards Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy over the way Disney's sequel trilogy was handled. Thankfully, the franchise was able to turn things around as The Mandalorian found huge success that of course can be credited to the duo of Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. The key to the show's triumph has always been its consistency and with two successful seasons under its belt, there's no denying that the future of the Star Wars universe looks very promising with them at the helm.
Unsurprisingly, Filoni and Favreau's magnificent partnership gained the approval of fans and if they had things their way, they'd love for either man to take over Lucasfilm from Kennedy in the future. Realistically speaking, we may be a few years away from it actually going down but a new rumor is suggesting that the House of Mouse may be toying with the idea of booting Kathleen out of the production company.
Cosmic Book News reports that Disney looks to be distancing itself from the producer and her days as Lucasfilm head may actually be numbered. According to the entertainment website's scoop, Disney executives are looking to replace Kennedy with Favreau which isn't too farfetched to believe considering his already impressive track record as part of the Star Wars franchise. But of course, just like any rumor, you better take this one with a huge grain of salt.
There's no doubt that the franchise will be in good hands with either Favreau or Filoni leading the charge but it's all just wishful thinking for now. Personally speaking, I'd like to see Kennedy redeem herself and prove the naysayers wrong and I believe she could do just that. I mean, failing an entire trilogy is more than enough lesson, right?
Meanwhile, Favreau and Filoni's next Star Wars project The Book of Boba Fett is set for release this December.
