After an agonizing two-year drought, Marvel Studios finally released its first feature film in the "pandemic era" Black Widow to much fanfare but despite performing extremely well at the box office and bringing in an impressive $80 million for its first week, the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe project suffered a major loss in the weeks that followed. Now, Scarlett Johansson is reportedly suing Disney for releasing the film via Disney+'s Premier Access feature on the same day of its theatrical premiere.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the 36-year-old actress filed a lawsuit against Marvel's parent company in the Los Angeles Superior Court and according to the statement from Johansson's suit, the House of Mouse allegedly "intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms. Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel."
The news spread like wildfire all over social media and Scarlett's fans expressed concern over the shocking issue. Check out some of the reactions here:

Disney definitely leaving Natasha Romanoff in the dust now but that's okay my sister helped to make that franchise so I just hope she gets her coins and dips— peacekeeper (@blueprintnic) July 29, 2021
Justice for Scarlett Johansson! Usually when she makes a small payday from a film it’s something artistically ambitious. She made BLACK WIDOW for the money, and money she should get.— Joe (@ratherbeintokyo) July 29, 2021

As of writing, Johansson or any of her representatives have yet to make an official statement regarding the matter but it'll be interesting to see how this issue affects her working relationship with both Disney and Marvel Studios. I mean, sure, Natasha is technically dead in the MCU but with the multiverse coming into play, she could easily make a return to the franchise in upcoming projects but Johansson filing a lawsuit against the House of Mouse could end up hurting her chances. It's quite a messy situation for sure.
Black Widow is still streaming via Disney+'s Premier Access.
