When Is The Black Widow Release Date?

Black Widow was initially set to premiere on July 7, 2020, but the film had to be pushed back due to COVID-19. After being moved to a November 6, 2020, theatrical release, Marvel Studios previously pushed back the Black Widow release date to May 7, 2021. Currently, the film is scheduled to be released on July 9, 2021.

Will Black Widow Be Released On Disney+?

Before the movie was officially announced to be released on theaters and on Disney+, Variety reported that Disney is considering the option of releasing Black Widow theatrically and on its streaming service, just like Mulan. Previously, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has insisted that the MCU flick will only have a theatrical release. The recent update has confirmed that the MCU flick will be released on Disney+ with Premier Access, as well as on the theaters.

Who Are The Cast Of Black Widow?

Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow: A longtime Avenger, Natasha has appeared in almost every MCU film since Iron Man 2. She is a former KGB assassin and SHIELD agent who revisits her past in the movie.

Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova/Black Widow: Yelena is a sister-figure to Natasha who was also trained in the Red Room to become a Black Widow. They had previously lived together as "sisters" with Alexei Shostakov and Melina Vostokoff.

Taskmaster: The main villain of Black Widow continues to be a huge mystery and the actor who plays the character has not yet been revealed. Taskmaster studies his opponents' fighting style so he could mimic them and beat them at their own game. He adopts techniques used by Spider-Man, The Winter Soldier, Captain America, and Iron Man.

David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian: Alexei is the Russian super-soldier counterpart of Captain America. In the film, he serves as a father figure to Natasha and Yelena.

Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff/Black Widow: Melina was also trained in the Red Room as a Black Widow. She serves as a mother figure to Natasha and Yelena in the film.

O-T Fagbenle as Rick Mason: Rick is an ally of SHIELD who has helped Natasha in the past and has romantic feelings for her.

William Hurt as Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross: The United States Secretary of State and a former U.S. Army general who is on the hunt for Natasha after she went into hiding following the events in Captain America: Civil War.

Robert Downey Jr. has been reported to reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in Black Widow. However, this has not yet been confirmed by Marvel Studios.

What Is The Premise of Black Widow?

The premise of Black Widow reads as follows:

"Following the events of Captain America: Civil War, Natasha Romanoff finds herself alone and forced to confront a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Romanoff must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger."

Black Widow is set after the events in Captain America: Civil War where Natasha has gone into hiding. The film will reveal what happened after the Civil War and before she was reunited with her team in Avengers: Infinity War.
