Joker Hits Digital this December

Todd Phillips' Joker has come out to be the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, and though we usually have to wait 3 months for a home release, it looks like we won't have to wait too long when it comes to this film.

As per the official Twitter account, Joker is going to hit digital on Dec. 17 and DVD/Blu-Ray on Jan. 7, 2020. Here's the post:

I guess you could call the early release as a Christmas present on WB's part, and it's definitely great we don't have to wait too long to get the movie at home.

Despite the controversy surrounding its release, Joker's run in the box office was pretty smooth-sailing, with no violence or shootings—like a lot of people were predicting. The success of the film is also kind of baffling as well, seeing as it even hit a billion without a release in China—arguably one of the biggest box office markets.

For now, I think a lot of fans are happy that the movie is a one-off. Though there are rumors coming out that WB wants to work on a sequel, I think it's best if they keep this version of the Joker as a one and done. Unless they come up with the perfect treatment, an expansion on this story will kind of ruin the ending we had with Arthur's arc. Besides, this version of Joker is now way equipped to take on a full-fledged Batman.

For now, we can wait for Joker to hit digital on Dec. 17.
