Zack Snyder Will Produce James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad

It looks like Zack Snyder isn't done with DC just yet. While he might not be in the director's seat anytime soon, the man will have some presence in future DCEU films as he will be an executive producer for James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. It's worth noting that he has had this role for a number of DC movies he has not directed, including Wonder Woman and Aquaman.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Snyder would be one of the movie's executive producers, which a lot of fans didn't expect. Warner Bros. essentially blamed the stale slate of DC films on Snyder and it seemed like the two parties would distance themselves from one another. It seems like Snyder was involved with more aspects of the DCEU's future than we thought.

Snyder recently announced that he would be directing a horror movie for Netflix called Army of the Dead, which was an old Warner Bros. project that was brought back from the dead, which is kind of funny when you think about it. People tend to like Snyder's take on Dawn of the Dead, so there might be some expectations for this.

As for Gunn's The Suicide Squad, it's slated for an August 2021 release date and will apparently have an all-new cast, though there are talks of Margot Robbie and Will Smith possibly returning. Then again, this could be seen as a soft-reboot with new characters and more interesting situations.
