Zack Snyder Just Confirmed That Atom Was In His Cut Of Justice League

Zack Snyder's plans for Justice League might not have been completely visualized on the big screen thanks to interference by Warner Brothers, but if the director had gotten his way, then it DC fans would have probably gotten another DC superhero appearance – Ryan Choi's The Atom.

For those who aren't entirely familiar with how Ryan Choi became DC's Atom, Ray Palmer, the original Atom, eventually passes on the mantle to his student in the current DC continuity.

Ryan Choi's name was previously spotted by fans in a digital list of the employees working under Dr. Silas Stone in Justice League's Star Labs and Snyder just recently confirmed that he had cast an actor to play Choi in the film. Unfortunately, the plans he had for the character were scrapped during production along with most of his Justice League cut.

The filmmaker confirmed that he actually included The Atom in his version of Justice League when a DC fan asked him Vero about the identity of the Star Labs scientist standing beside Cyborg's (Ray Fisher) father in a promotional photo for Justice League, saying that he had tweaked the occupation of Choi for the DC Extended Universe.

Unfortunately, while the appearance of Choi would have definitely opened more doors for heroes like the Atom to join the DCEU, a lot of what Snyder shot for Justice League got cut when the director stepped back from production to grieve the loss of his daughter. Swooping in, Warner Brothers cut most of Snyder's work on Justice League and assigned Joss Whedon to work on the reshoots and the post-production of the film.

It's definitely such a shame that we didn't get Atom in the movie.

The DCEU's next film, Aquaman, is set to swim in cinemas December 20, 2018.
