Most of you may not remember it but Shazam! actor Zachary Levi previously appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Thor film series. Levi, who was the original choice to play one of the God of Thunder's trusted allies Fandral couldn't commit to the original film due to scheduling conflicts. However, he would finally get his shot in Thor: The Dark World replacing actor Josh Dallas.

Apparently, Levi was promised a more substantial role in Thor: The Dark World, and obviously, that meant a lengthier screen time for Thor's buddies The Warriors Three. Levi also revealed in a new panel interview that the Asgardian warriors would've also appeared in Thor: Ragnarok but plans were scrapped for reasons unbeknownst to him. If you may recall, Fandral got killed in the sequel.

Appearing at DragonCon 2021 (via The Direct), Levi expressed his disappointment over the treatment of The Warriors Three whom he believes should've gotten a more significant role in the franchise. He said: "To be honest, I had seen the first one, and I didn't really feel like The Warriors Three were used all that well, so I was like, ‘Hey, are you going to actually use these folks'. And they said, ‘Oh no, we're gonna use The Warriors Three a lot in Thor: The Dark World. A lot. Yeah, you're going to be busy'. And I was like, ‘Okay', so I signed up for it."

It's quite a bummer that Marvel Studios didn't do a lot with The Warriors Three and for the most part, they were only treated as Thor's lackeys. I totally get where Zachary's frustration is coming from but the silver lining of it all is that after his brief and underwhelming MCU stint ended, the DC Extended Universe opened its doors for him and now, he's finding a great deal of success as the franchise's Mightiest Mortal.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will hit cinemas in 2023.
