Yoo Ah In’s drug test results returned positive amid the police’s investigation into his alleged drug abuse.

The 36-year-old actor has been under the spotlight after a TV Chosun report, as cited by Naver News, emerged. It revealed that a top male Korean movie star in his 30s was being investigated because of illegal drug use, and Yoo Ah In’s agency United Artists Agency soon confirmed the existence of the probe.

As part of the investigation, the actor underwent a drug test, and its results shocked his fans.

Yoo Ah In Tested Positive for Marijuana

On Monday, police officials confirmed that Yoo Ah In underwent a drug test as part of the investigation into his illegal use of propofol. The results revealed that he tested positive for marijuana.

Police initially sent his hair and urine samples to the National Forensic Service on Sunday for testing. They obtained them upon his arrival from the US, per The Korea Herald.

Officials disclosed that his urine sample had already completed the test, and it detected cannabis in his system. In South Korea, cannabis is considered an illegal drug.

The results from his hair are yet to be obtained.

The publication added that the police officials found out about Yoo Ah In’s drug use after receiving an investigation request from the Ministry of Food and Drug safety.

The #Alive actor underwent questioning by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on Monday. The authorities have since raided clinics and hospitals in Gangnam and Yongsan from Wednesday to Thursday and obtained medical records that could serve as evidence.

Yoo Ah In’s Agency Responds to New Development

Following the reports, the United Artists Agency released a new statement confirming that it would cooperate with the ongoing probe.

"(We) have yet to be notified by the police of the drug test results," the company said. "As we have said in our statement, (Yoo) will actively cooperate with all related investigations."

Yoo Ah In, meanwhile, is yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
