Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Reportedly Joining Mad Max Prequel Featuring Furiosa

It looks like Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is set to dominate just about every major film franchise right now. A new report claims that the Aquaman 2 star is in talks to join the Mad Max prequel that will focus on Charlize Theron's Furiosa.

The news comes from the Sneider Cut podcast, which reveals that the project is expected to move forward with Abdul-Mateen. However, the Candyman actor's role has not yet been announced.

This is great news for fans who have been hoping that Theron will return as Furiosa after the wildly successful Mad Max: Fury Road. On the other hand, it's important to point out that it's unlikely that Tom Hardy will be back in the film since it will be a prequel. Nevertheless, we can still expect plenty of action if Theron is involved.

But when exactly is the prequel going to start production? For now, there aren't any updates about that just yet. After all, George Miller is still working on other projects. In addition to that, Abdul-Mateen has several films lined up including The Matrix 4. There's also the possibility that he will return as Doctor Manhattan in Watchmen Season 2 although HBO has not yet announced the show's renewal.

Mad Max: Fury Road was released in 2015 and was nominated for Best Picture and Best Director at the Academy Awards. The prequel has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
