As fans continue to wait for a second season announcement, a new Ya Boy Kongming! live-action TV series has been announced, which is set to premiere later this year.

This upcoming series is being produced by Fuji TV, and it is an upcoming adaptation of the Ya Boy Kongming! manga, which is also the source material for the hit anime show.

Spring 2022 had several big hits such as Spy x Family and Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Season 3. Though unexpectedly, Ya Boy Kongming! became a huge viral hit during that season.

One of the main reasons the anime went viral is its incredibly catchy opening song Chiki Chiki Bam Bam by QUEENDOM.

It also helped that the opening featured a simple yet catchy dance that trended on various social media platforms.

Aside from the opening song, the anime’s unique premise also helped it become one of the season’s most popular.

As the title implies, Ya Boy Kongming! follows the famous Chinese military strategist Zhuge Liang Kongming.

The series starts with Kongming’s death in the year 234. On his deathbed, Kongming wishes to be reborn with a peaceful life.

His wish is granted as he finds himself reborn in modern Japan. While he finds himself transported there as his younger self, he is still wearing his traditional outfit.

Thankfully, he wakes up in the middle of Shibuya on Halloween.

Not much info about the show has been revealed, though it was announced that Japanese actor Osamu Mukai (Ikeda Tsuneoki in Nobunaga Concerto) will play the role of Kongming.

Teaser visuals for the show were also shared, giving fans a look at Mukai as Kongming in his signature outfit.

The show is set to air on Fuji TV every Wednesday at 10:00 PM JST.

While there’s no word yet on a specific release date, it’s expected that this show will begin airing in early October.
