X-Men Producer Says She Won’t Be Part Of The MCU Reboot

Now that X-Men: Dark Phoenix is finally screening in cinemas, fans are eagerly looking forward to seeing the X-Men film franchise rebooted by Marvel Studios. While some might hope to see some of the franchise's old cast and crew take part in the reboot, long-time X-Men producer Lauren Schuler Donner reveals that she'll stay away from Marvel's take on the franchise.

Ever since the release of Bryan Singer's X-Men movie in 2008, Donner has produced every film and TV series in the franchise. However, it seems like the producer has no intention of joining Marvel to help work on the X-men reboot.

Speaking in an interview with Slash Film, Donner says she now entrusts the mutants into Disney's capable fans.

"X-Men now belongs to Disney and it's in their capable hands," the producer told the publication,"That's really up to Kevin Feige. He started out with me. I trust him. I think whatever he does, it won't be right away. I think he's already dealing with the plan that he set in motion for the other Marvel universe. But, I will not be involved most probably. I'll be friend of the court."

Marvel is a capable studio, so Donner may have nothing to worry about. In fact, most fans are eager to see the X-Men make their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not only because the mutants will be able to team up with other Marvel heroes, but because the studio would most likely know how to handle the franchise.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is currently screening in cinemas.
