Marvel fans might be excited to see the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and all of Fox's other mutants make their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe now that Disney's completed its acquisition of 21st Century Fox, however, the X-Men: Dark Phoenix cast aren't so sure about their roles moving forward.
Speaking in an interview with ComicBook.com, Cyclops actor Tye Sheridan reveals that no one has told them what's to come after Dark Phoenix.
"There weren't any talks with us," the X-Men star ells the publication, "I don't know if there've been an internal conversation."
This uncertainty might be dizzying for fans of the mutant franchise, however, Sheridan continues to hold on to the hope that these characters are going to continue on in any fashion.
"I don't know. I think this franchise has a lot of potential, it always has," Sheridan said. "I'd love to see it continue in some form, even if there spin-offs and characters do their own movies independently. I think it's definitely something that should be explored."
While we're not quite sure whether or not the X-Men cast and crew have been told about Disney's plans, word has it that Marvel intends to reboot the mutant franchise after the release of X-Men: Dark Phoenix and New Mutants. We're not quite sure when, however, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has told fans that it might actually take quite a while for the X-Men to make it to the MCU. After all, Marvel still has to deal with its roster of Phase 4 films. The X-Men will just have to wait.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set for release on June 7.
