X-Men: Dark Phoenix Star Sophie Turner Opens Up About Her Sexuality

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is just a few months away from its release and it seems like the movie's lead star Sophie Turner decided that now is the perfect time to stir up some controversy among fans.

Speaking in a recent interview with the Rolling Stone, Turner talked about growing up in the middle of HBO's phenomenal fantasy epic Game of Thrones along with her series co-star, Maisie Williams. After discussing Game of Thrones, the interview went in a more personal direction. The actress caused quite a stir when she decided to open about her sexuality saying that she had experimented with other girls before and that she refused to label her sexuality.

Turned had been asked about her engagement with Joe Jonas, and the actress answered quite candidly saying that she found the right person because she's experienced everything that she's had to with both guys and girls.

"I was fully preparing myself to be single for the rest of my life. I think once you've found the right person, you just know," the Game of Thrones star told the publication, "I feel like I'm much older a soul than I am in age. I feel like I've lived enough life to know. I've met enough guys to know — I've met enough girls to know. I don't feel 22. I feel like 27, 28."

When Turner was asked to explain her comment regarding "girls," the actress wasn't shy to say that she experimented.

"Everyone experiments. It's part of growing up. I love a soul, not a gender," Turner said.

That's a great answer to the question – one celebrated by many as a sign that Turner is part of the LGBTQ. Some of Turner's more conservative fans were certainly surprised by her openness while others refused to think that she openly labelled herself as pansexual or bisexual.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix premieres June 7, 2019.
