X-Men: Dark Phoenix Director Gives an Update on the Reshoots

X-Men: Dark Phoenix was originally set to come out November of this year, but changes in the script have prompted Fox to delay the movie to February 2019. The film is scheduled for some extensive reshoots, and director Simon Kinberg gives us a few teasers via his Instagram.

Check them out:

We don't exactly know what went wrong with the movie, but rumor has it that the film has done a huge overhaul on the third act of the movie. It was said that the scheduled reshoots were going to take three months, but ComicBookMovie says that the allotted time for these reshoots is actually only three weeks—the standard allotted time for any regular reshoot.

For a movie that was supposed to come out this year, we've only seen very little of the film, which could be a bad sign. Then again Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was also scheduled for some extensive reshoots, and the final cut of that film turned out fine.

Personally, I'm hoping that Kinberg ends this iteration of the X-franchise with this film. The timeline is all muddled up, and the characters have barely aged despite the movies having jumped decades within the timeline. Dark Phoenix is supposed to take place in the 90s and Professor X has barely aged since the 60s.

Plus, Disney has confirmed that they want the Fox heroes in the MCU after the acquisition. It's best that Marvel can give the characters a nice, clean slate.

Or maybe just claim that the Deadpool films have been taking place in the MCU this whole time. That's one character that needs to stay.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set for a release on Feb. 14, 2019.
