X-Factor has already been confirmed to join the mutants in X-Men ’97 Season 2, but they are not the only supergroup coming to the hit Disney+ series.

In fact, several teams are set to enter the fray, as the X-Men will need all the help they can get in their battle against Apocalypse.

From alternate-timeline versions of the X-Men to other mutant factions, here are the five mutant groups expected to appear in X-Men ’97 Season 2 as confirmed by a new promo art

After the X-Men were scattered across timelines in the Season 1 finale, Cable begins forming a new mutant team called X-Force.

Composed of Jubilee, Sunspot, Archangel, and Psylocke, the team may serve as a black-ops strike unit in X-Men ’97 Season 2.

As X-Force is known for being a darker, more aggressive offshoot of the X-Men, they are likely to take on missions the main team would refuse–doing what the X-Men won’t.

X-Factor

After making a cameo in the previous season, X-Factor is back to officially join X-Men ’97 Season 2.

While it remains to be seen what role they will play, as a government-funded mutant team, the US may call on their help to continue the work of the X-Men before they fully join the fight against Apocalypse.

From Cyclops’ brother Havok to Magneto’s daughter Polaris, alongside Wolfsbane, Multiple Man, Strong Guy, and Val Cooper, they are sure to form a formidable team capable of taking on any mission.

X-Corp

X-Corp is about to make its way into X-Men ’97 Season 2. Created by Charles Xavier, the organization is set to protect mutant rights around the world and support civilian super-powered individuals.

While Xavier himself is not part of the team, it includes some of the strongest and most respected mutants, such as Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Rogue, Nightcrawler, Bishop, and Polaris, who also joins the cause.

The X-Men

X-Men ‘97 Season 1 ended with the mutant team being divided between the far past and the future.

Charles Xavier, Magneto, Beast, Rogue, and Nightcrawler are sent to Ancient Egypt in 3000 BC, where a young Apocalypse known as En Sabah Nur is revealed.

As the battle against the First Mutant is about to take place, the group will be working together to prevent Apocalypse from rising to full power.

Cyclops and Jean Grey, alternatively, end up in 3960 AD, where they meet Clan Askani, a far-future group of freedom fighters who oppose Apocalypse.

Coincidentally, the group includes a younger version of their son, Nathan Summers, also known as Cable.

While the whereabouts of other X-Men members, such as Wolverine, Storm, and Morph, have yet to be revealed, they are believed to be in a futuristic wasteland, where they must find their teammates and find a way back home.

Forge is known to be part of this wasteland group, so he may attempt to locate them–especially Storm, with whom he shares a close bond.

X-Men '97 Season 2 is expected to premiere on Disney+ in mid-2026.
