The highly-anticipated revival of the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series finally arrived on Disney+ this week. The responses have been overwhelmingly positive from both critics and the fans.

Speaking with Men's Health, Winderbaum addressed the potential crossover event in X-Men '97 with the other Marvel animated shows in the 1990s.

The original series notably had a crossover with Spider-Man: The Animated Series where the web-slinger and the mutant heroes teamed up for a couple of episodes.

"We have a great executive who works for us named Drew River, who manages the continuity of the timeline. And obviously that becomes more complex as you enter the multiverse saga and tracking multiple timelines," Winderbaum said.

"X-Men '97 fits into that '90s timeline, along with the OG series, as well as those concurrent '90s shows that would sometimes cross over with the X-Men. The potential is always there."

He continued, "Without going into spoiler territory, the original show does have a lot of fun cameos, and '97 carries that torch."

Based on Winderbaum's comments, it sounds like fans could expect some crossover whether it's on a smaller scale or a potential major event in the future where our favorite heroes will team up in an Avengers-level battle.

A lot of fans would definitely love to see a major crossover event of the '90s Marvel animated shows and the existence of X-Men '97 could pave the way for that to happen.

It is interesting what kind of cameos or crossovers they have in store in the first season since it is all but confirmed that they have a major surprise that is coming.
