X-Men '97 is set to feature cameo appearances from fan-favorite Marvel characters according to the show's executive producer.

The highly-anticipated revival of the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series from the '90s is set to bring back all main characters with some of the original voice actors returning as well.

Considering that the original series also had guest appearances of non-mutant Marvel superheroes, fans are wondering whether X-Men '97 will continue the tradition in its return.

Speaking with Variety, X-Men '97 executive producer Brad Winderbaum revealed that the new series will feature cameo appearances of beloved Marvel characters similar to the original version.

He explained that, while the series is not part of the sacred timeline, it exists in a universe of Marvel '90s animated shows which makes it possible for them to co-exist in the same world.

"It’s exactly the same level of cameos as the original series. Even though X-Men ‘97 is not in the sacred timeline, there is a universe of ‘90s cartoons that we know," Winderbaum said.

"Because of Loki and every other multiverse story, we know that if your brain wants to go there, you know there’s always potential for connections."

As most fans know, the original series occasionally featured guest appearances of characters from other Marvel properties such as Captain America and Doctor Strange although their connectivity is not in the same vein as the MCU.

We've seen hints since the marketing campaign started that the new series will have cameos as fans spotted a Daily Bugle easter egg in the trailer and it was revealed that Theo James joined the cast to voice a "fan-favorite" character.

Since Marvel Studios is now producing the series and they have bigger access to the library of the characters, there are endless possibilities on which cameos we might see in the series and it is exciting to find out what they have in store.

X-Men '97 is set to premiere with two episodes tomorrow, March 20 on Disney+.
