The recently-aired episode 6 of X-Men '97 titled "Lifedeath - Part 2" finally revealed what happened to Charles Xavier after the events of the original series.

In the final episode of X-Men: The Animated Series, Xavier was on the brink of death after he was attacked by Henry Peter Gyrich during a Mutant/Human Relations Summit.

Lilandra came in and offered a cure for Xavier. However, he has to go with her to the Shi'ar Empire in order to be cured. The X-Men and Magneto said their goodbyes to Xavier as he left with Lilandra and departed to her home world.

The episode started with the introduction of Lilandra's sister Deathbird, who was seen leading a battle against Ronan the Accuser in the midst of the Kree-Shi'ar War.

She was called back to her home world after learning the news that Lilandra was marrying Charles Xavier, who is revealed to be alive and well.

Not only that, Xavier was also able to walk again since he was no longer using a hoverchair, indicating that he was fully cured.

Deathbird was against the idea of the potential marriage between Xavier and Lilandra since the former would also become the Emperor of the home world.

It was suggested that Xavier should erase his memories of his time on Earth and with the X-Men in order to show that he is fully committed to serving the Shi'ar Empire.

Right before his memories were about to be erased, a fight ensued within the room and Xavier used his psychic abilities to bring everyone to the astral plane and remind them of their history.

However, he became aware of the attack on Genosha that happened in last week's episode as he saw visions of the events that included an image of a dying Gambit.

Xavier realized that the X-Men needed him and decided to call off his engagement with Lilandra and return back to Earth.

It is interesting to see how Xavier will react and handle the events back on Earth in the aftermath of the attack on Genosha which also resulted in the death of his dear friend Magneto.
