The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's Wyatt Russell Breaks Silence on Thunderbolts Movie Announcement

Recently, we learned that Marvel Studios is officially working on a Thunderbolts movie with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's John Walker as one of the characters who might potentially be part of the film. While we don't have any official confirmation yet whether that will be his next MCU appearance, the actor behind the role has chimed in about his thoughts on the news.

In a recent interview with The Playlist, Wyatt Russell, who plays John Walker, was asked if he knows whether his character will be part of the Thunderbolts movie to which he revealed that he is unsure about it yet as he has to wait for a phone call from Marvel first.

"You know the idea, right? I’m not a moron. I mean, I know what they’re thinking of, but you don’t know when they’re going to do it, if they’re going to do it, what’s going to happen," Russell said. "When you get the phone call, you get the phone call. And they do a really good job of keeping it from everybody because, you know, they’ve got something to protect and I always say like, I’d just rather not know."

He continued, "Just don’t tell me. I don’t need to know. Just tell me when you want me to show up. Other than that, just keep me in the dark. I don’t care. And if you do tell me, tell me in enough time where I can get to the gym because right now, I don’t look like John Walker, I look like Dan Lafferty."

When asked if he has gotten any phone call yet from Marvel regarding his potential appearance in the film, Russell insisted that he has not received any as of this moment.

"No, I’m just waiting on it. You wait on it until, like, they announce it," he said. "They keep it really, really tight, and it’s like, you respect that because they’ve got other bottom lines to look out for than what they think I need to know."

Russell's performance as John Walker was one of the standouts in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Given that they slightly redeemed the character and made him the US Agent by the end of the series, it was clear that he has a bigger future in the MCU and it would be exciting if we'll eventually get a confirmation that he is going to be part of the Thunderbolts film. Let's just see whether that's going to be the case.
