Wizards of the Coast's Longtime Photographer Says He's No Longer Needed at Magic: The Gathering Events

Wizards of the Coast

Over the years, photographer Craig Gibson has captured the unforgettable moments of various Magic: The Gathering events like the Pro Tour and Grand Prix with his vivid photos but now, it looks like Wizards of the Coast no longer needs their longtime photographer for their events.

Over on Twitter, Magic: The Gathering player Willy Edel shared a message from Craig himself in which he confirmed that Wizards no longer needs him. "WoTC gave me an email 2 weeks ago stating they no longer need a photographer at their events. I am one of many," Craig wrote. "Please, you will need to ask them for photos."

After the controversy in MagicFest New Jersey, MTG fans seem to be upset with the recent changes in Magic events and now, it's sad to hear that Wizards of the Coast no longer needs the phenomenal works of a legendary photographer. Are they cutting more costs to focus their funding on Magic Arena and the Magic Pro League? Do they still want Grand Prix and Pro Tour to be spectator events? What about the Mythic Championships? They probably need professional photographers to give those events the coverage they deserve.
