Witcher Fans Respond To Netflix’s Decision To Cast Henry Cavill

Earlier this morning, word broke out that DC Extended Universe Superman star Henry Cavill managed to nab the role of Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's upcoming live-action adaptation of The Witcher book series.

While it's been lovely to see Cavill winning the role that he's actively been wishing for the past few weeks, fans have mixed reactions towards the casting announcement, expressing both excitement and apprehension.

Fans have been busy responding to Netflix's decision to cast the Mission: Impossible – Fallout star on Twitter and it looks like some are pretty thrilled to have Superman on board the project. Cavill is a big fan of fantasy video games, and he just recently let the world know that he was hoping to play Geralt in the show.

Meanwhile, others seem a bit sceptical about Cavill taking on the role, disappointed that their favourites weren't picked by the project's creative team.

Right now there aren't that many details about the project aside from Cavill's casting, so there's still a lot to learn about the upcoming Witcher series. What we do know is that the series is going to run for eight episodes on Netflix and that Daredevil's Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will be working as the showrunner of the streaming platform's live-action The Witcher. Meanwhile, Alik Sakharov from Black Sails is also to serve as the series' executive producer.

The Witcher doesn't have a release date yet, but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
