Will Thor: Ragnarok Keep The LGBT Status Of A Planet Hulk Character?

Thor: Ragnarok looks pretty, witty and bright, but will it be gay as well? As most fans know, the latest installment in the MCU is a nice hodgepodge of Walt Simonson's magnificent Thor run and Greg Pak's epic Planet Hulk storyline. Interestingly enough, two characters from the fun Planet Hulk storyline were gay, and one of them has already been confirmed for the film. The real question is if they will keep him gay.

According to New Now Next, Korg will have the honor of being the first gay character in an MCU movie. Korg was already seen in previous Ragnarok trailers, and the film's director, Taika Waititi, will portray the character via motion capture. It will be interesting to see if the character stays gay, or if they even acknowledge his sexuality in the film.

Funnily enough, some of the characters in the film are part of the LGBT community in the comic books. Valkyrie is bisexual, having had relationships with the Flash Thompson incarnation of Venom in Secret Avengers and Annabelle Riggs from the short-lived, but critically acclaimed Fearless Defenders. Loki might also be bi, since he flirted with former X-Man Prodigy during the second volume of Young Avengers. His sexuality might be more complex, since he willingly transformed into a woman various times during the Loki: Agent of Asgard series.

If Korgs keep his sexuality in the movie, it should lead to a nice moment in the film for LGBT fans, assuming the director handles the revelation well. The character is an honorable ally of The Hulk in the comics, and is set to do the same for Thor in the movie.

Thor: Ragnarok is slated for a November 3 release in the Americas. Aside from possibly having the first LGBT character in the MCU, we can also expect heavy implications for Avengers: Infinity War.
