Netflix has just released the second season of its Warrior Nun series but fans are already asking for a third installment. The big question is, will there be a Warrior Nun Season 3?

Has Netflix Renewed Warrior Nun for a Third Season?
As of this writing, Netflix has not yet renewed Warrior Nun for a third season. But of course, this is expected since Warrior Nun Season 2 just released a few days ago.
Still, it wouldn't be a surprise if Netflix decides to renew the show considering it has a huge fanbase on social media.
In an interview with Inverse, show creator Simon Barry remains hopeful that there will be more seasons:
"With Warrior Nun, I would give it a window because we're still so early in the process of developing it. Anything between five and seven seasons would be lovely."
Barry also spoke with ScreenRant about the show's future:
“Of course, when you end a season as writers, you always want to make sure that you’ve not written yourself into a corner. And yes, we did have a notion about what season 3 could be and how that would look. But of course, it’s up to the fans. If they show up in big numbers. Netflix will make the right decision. And so hopefully, that’s what will happen.”
Today, December 13, 2022, Netflix announced that the show has been canceled.
Despite having a small yet passionate fan base, Warrior Nun was unable to secure the executives' nod to renew the show for a third season.
Barry took to Twitter to confirm the sad news and said:
"I've just found out that @netflix will not be renewing Warrior Nun — my sincere appreciation to all the fans who worked so hard to bring awareness to this series, and for the love you showed me, the cast and the whole production team. It was a privilege to be a part of this."
The cancelation has sparked the show's fans, who called out the streaming platform for this decision. The hashtag, #CancelNetflix, also trended throughout the day with fans claiming the producers decided to drop Warrior Nun because it was already "openly gay."
Netflix did not respond to these accusations.
When Will Warrior Nun Season 3 Release Date Be?
Since the show has not yet been renewed for a third season, a release date is still unknown. It's possible that we could see the show return in 2024.
What Will Warrior Nun Season 3 Story Be About?
The 8th episode of Warrior Nun Season 2, entitled Jeremiah 29:13, shows a glimpse into what the third season could be about:
"Ava visits the other realm and returns with a new plan to end Adriel's unholy charade -- but it will require superhuman strength and painful sacrifices."
The cliffhanger ending in Warrior Nun Season 2 sets up the show for a potential war brewing with the Halo. Not to mention, there's Lilith's (played by Lorena Andrea) surprise transformation to look at.
