Even though Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania just opened in theaters last week, fans are already getting excited by another upcoming Marvel film. Thanks to Tom Hardy, we've got confirmation that the third Venom movie is already in pre-production status.
The actor shared a deleted scene that comes from the first film. The clip has been posted on his Instagram account. The clip doesn't reveal much about the status of the third movie but his caption does.
“Whilst working on V3 pre prep @lelping @sonypictures @sony @venommovie this throwback came up.”
Hardy tagged Kelly Marcel, who is the screenwriter of the three Venom movies. She is also revealed to be the director of the third Venom movie, which will be her directorial debut.
When Is Venom 3 Release Date?
Although pre-production of the third film has started, we still don't know when its release date will be. This is because the film still has to go through the long process of principal photography. After that, there's still the excruciating process of post-production, which is where the magic happens thanks to VFX. Since Venom is a CGI-heavy film, it's possible that the film could be released in the later part of 2024 or early 2025.
There's also a possibility that Venom could be showing up in one of the planned projects of Marvel before Venom 3 gets released. Hopefully, there'll be a film with the much-awaited confrontation between Spider-Man and Venom. It's possible that the two could have an encounter in Avengers: Secret Wars since the original comics shows this is where Spider-Man encountered the symbiote.
But that's all we know at this point. The legalities of the rights agreements with Spider-Man is beyond us and the comic books so we don't know when this could be happening or if it would happen at all.
While waiting, check out this mid-credits scene where Venom learns about Iron Man and Hulk:
