After getting released on Netflix just a few days ago, political drama, The Night Agent, has quickly become the most streamed show on the platform. It has overtaken other shows like You Season 4 Part 2 and The Glory Part 2. With its immense popularity, many can't help but wonder if a second season has already been confirmed.
Here's what we know so far.
Has The Night Agent Season 2 Been Confirmed?
Since The NIght Agent was released only recently, there's no word yet on what Netflix's decision will be regarding the future of the show. The 10-part political drama only got released on March 23, 2023 and has quickly rose to fame. If this keeps up, it's possible that we'll hear a renewal announcement from Netflix pretty soon. After all, the show has been compared to the likes of Reacher and The Terminal List, both of which already have several seasons attached to their titles.
What Could The Night Agent Season 2 Story Be About?
The Night Agent is based on the book written by Matthew Quirk entitled The Night Agent: A Novel. Since there is only one book in that series, the writers of the show will have to come up with their own continuation of the story. But it's possible that they will adapt some of Quirk's other books if The Night Agent gets renewed for a second season.
The show follows the story of an FBI agent assigned to the White House. If the show gets renewed for another season, we could see Peter Sutherland (played by Gabriel Basso) return to reprise his role and go on other espionage adventures based on the other books written by Quirk.
In an interview with Criminal Element in 2019, Quirk talked about the other adventures he has lined up for Peter:
"While out on a walk a whole arc for him and Rose popped into my head, so we'll see, I'd love to spend more time with those two."
It's possible that Peter could have more in store for him in The Night Agent Season 2, especially since he did save the president from getting assassinated. Plus, we also have more to look forward about with Rose's side of things, especially since she lost her cybertech company.
There's lots of open possibilities for the story to continue in the future. But as showrunner Shawn Ryan tells Deadline:
"Listen, until there is a season two picked up, the writers and I aren't getting paid to figure that out until it becomes official in some way. I certainly have some ideas; I probably want to keep those to myself until the time comes."
"What I will tell you is that the initial pitch for this show that we sold to Netflix was that each season would tell its own, mostly self-enclosed, a beginning, middle and end story, and any future seasons would include a few but not most of the characters that we saw in the previous season. That was the original plan; I think it's still a pretty solid plan. To me it was important. I don't want to tell this specific story over five seasons, I want to tell this specific story in one season and give some satisfaction to the audience that they see how things turn out."
Who Will Star in The Night Agent Season 2?
Right now, we don't know for sure who will be returning to reprise their roles in The Night Agent Season 2. But we can expect the main characters to be back, including the following:

- Hong Chau (as Diane Farr)
- Sarah Desjardins (as Maddie Redfield)
- Fola Evans-Akingbola (as Chelsea Arrington)
