It’s been 10 years since My Little Monster made its anime debut. So, will there ever be a My Little Monster season 2?
Also known as The Monster Sitting Beside Me, My Little Monster is a Japanese manga by Robico. It follows the story of Shizuku Mizutani and Haru Yoshida.
The manga was serialized in Kodansha’s Dessert magazine in 2008. The manga was then adapted into an anime by Brain’s Base. The anime ran from October to December 2012.
Will There Be a My Little Monster Season 2?
As of this writing, a potential second season of My Little Monster is unlikely to happen. While waiting, supporters of the series can read the completed manga.
The demand for a My Little Monster sequel increased after Netflix decided to add it to its library. Originally, the series was streamed on Crunchyroll and is still available for free viewing today.
With its heightened popularity thanks to Netflix, fans are anticipating a new season.
In terms of content, the manga already ended in 2013. There are a total of 13 volumes to read but Robico released a 14th bonus volume in 2014, probably because of the popularity of the manga and anime.
The anime adaptation ended in Volume 4, which gives a total of 10 volumes unanimated.
If compared with other anime, ten volumes could be equivalent to two seasons or at least a movie and one season. However, it’s been 10 years, and still no update from Brain Base Studio or Robico regarding the potential anime adaptation.
Ten years is a long hiatus but of course, until a final say from the studio and creator has been made, fans of the series can still wait for a sequel.
What is My Little Monster About?
Shizuku Mizutani and Haru Yoshida are two classmates with different goals. Shizuku’s life revolved around her studies while Haru had a bad reputation based on rumors.
The two of them fall in love but they seemed to be confused about the concept of love and relationships, thus the two of them hardly met on the same page.
