Will There Be a Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Anime Movie?
A Kaguya-sama: Love Is War anime movie has now been announced. Initially, the official website and Twitter account of the anime were quite vague, promising a new animation without much detail as to what it was.
The first announcement did not analyze what the "new animation" could be. While a Season 4 is still not unlikely, many fans were right to deduce that a Kaguya-sama: Love Is War anime movie was also a possibility.
The upcoming movie, titled Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: First Kiss wa Owaranai (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War: The First Kiss Never Ends), will pick up from where the third season left off.
The movie is adapting the final chapters of Volume 14, exploring the aftermath of Kaguya and Miyuki's dual confession.
For those wondering if Kaguya and Miyuki are dating now, this doesn't happen immediately, nor are things so straightforward.
Being teenagers and notoriously bad communicators, Kaguya and Miyuki will spend some time wondering where they stand before starting a dating relationship. And the film will explore this grey area after the couple's first kiss.
The movie, which will get a theatrical release date and a TV release later on, will be a great way to maintain fan engagement if Season 4 takes a bit longer to make.
Before the release date of Season 3, in 2021, a Kaguya-sama: Love Is War OVA came out, showing the student council in out-of-school moments.
However, this extra episode wasn't much appreciated by fans due to its fanservice elements.
While the seinen anime isn't without its innuendos, they're rarely extreme or tasteless.
Kaguya-sama remains an anime about a battle of intellect that acknowledges teens' urges without overtly sexualizing them.
It didn't help that this OVA took the ecchi element a bit far compared to the manga -- which is usually the bolder one.
Of course, this doesn't mean that the future Kaguya-sama: Love Is War movie will be less good than the series.
We expect it to do quite well if it's based on manga events!

As of writing, it's unclear if a fourth season is planned alongside the new movie.
