Will The Mandalorian Season 3 Have Any Special Cameos?

It's fair to say that The Mandalorian Season 1 felt very much like its own entity, while Season 2 leaned heavily into cameos, with the likes of Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and even Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) making appearances. But will The Mandalorian Season 3 have any special cameos?

Now that the cat is out of the bag, anything is possible where The Mandalorian Season 3 is concerned. It will soon be hitting Disney+, and though the two trailers don't feature any major cameos, the appearance of major Star Wars characters can't be ruled out.

After all, we weren't exactly given any forewarning that Ahsoka Tano, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) would be showing up in Season 2. As such, it would be wise to expect The Mandalorian Season 3 to follow suit and give us a whole bunch of new cameos to salivate over.

First of all, we probably shouldn't rule out the fact that Ahsoka and Luke may very well return, seeing as they both made an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett (2021) - unofficially known as "The Mandalorian 2.5" - and will likely still play some sort of role in Grogu's life.

Although, with that said, now that Din Djarin/the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) is seemingly training Grogu to become a Mandalorian, it's likely Ahsoka and Luke won't have all that much to do in the show. Bo-Katan Kryze, on the other hand, is another matter entirely, as the trailer suggests she's the main villain.

But what other cameos could Season 3 include? We're talking about Star Wars characters who have never been in The Mandalorian before. Well, it's entirely possible that the Bad Batch (from the animated show of the same name) could make an appearance - or at least a couple of them.

Nothing relating to the Bad Batch has been even remotely hinted at, though, so this is probably unlikely. As for any other clones, such as Captain Rex, who will undoubtedly be played by Jango Fett and Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison, this is a huge possibility.

The Mandalorian Season 3 will undoubtedly tease the upcoming live-action Ahsoka (2023) series as it nears its end, and though Captain Rex hasn't been confirmed to be appearing in Ahsoka, it would be very out of character for Star Wars not to use a current show to advertise a future one.

Just look at The Mandalorian Season 2 - in parts it felt like a teaser for The Book of Boba Fett. And then that show felt like a teaser for The Mandalorian Season 3! We don't expect Season 3 to break this pattern, especially with Ahsoka right around the corner.

Perhaps the best place to look for clues, though, are the other live-action shows such as Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022) and Andor (2022). While they both take place during the Galactic Empire era, The Mandalorian is only set five years after the end of the original trilogy.

As such, it would be entirely feasible for characters from those two shows - with of course the exception of both titular characters, who die before/during the original trilogy - to make an appearance in The Mandalorian Season 3. Or, maybe there are more characters from the animated shows yet to get their shot in live action.
