In an interview with ComicBook.com, show co-creator and actor Hugh Dillon revealed that they (Taylor Sheridan) are already into the planning stages of Mayor of Kingstown Season 3. And that's because the duo has been thinking about the show for years.

"Taylor and I, like I said, it took 10 years to build (the show). So we were two guys who were like, 'Then what happens?' And so as he's helping me audition and he's doing his thing, we are constantly building this. So by the time it hit, we had 10 years to construct it. So yeah, we've got a big future planned for Mayor."

The actor was asked in another interview by Deadline, how he heard about Renner's snow plow accident. Dillon revealed:

"I heard about it from one of the other producers. I saw it on the news and then he sent me a video. He’s very funny. I just think the world of that guy and I’m happy he’s surrounded by his family. Anything we can do to help, we will. That’s the biggest thing. He’s like family."

The actor also said that he "wanted to fly out and find him and see him [Renner]" as soon as he got the news.

"I was just like, okay, he's gonna come back. He's just so funny. He's like a brother to me. It's like, you know, we've worked on this show for two years. This is my show I created with Taylor Sheridan and he's [Renner] just unstoppable. He's an exceptional talent and the crew loves him. The cast loves him. I love him, and it was, and my world stopped. I just want him to recover and then to get the video and, hey, you know, just profanity, profanity. You know, it just made me laugh and cry at the same time and I just thank God he's okay and he's, you know, on the road to recovery."

Dillon also revealed that they [Sheridan] have "multiple ideas for multiple seasons." But since Mayor of Kingstown has not yet been renewed by Paramount+ for a third season, it will still depend on the studio's decision.

If the show gets greenlit for another season, Dillon says that it's possible they could start production "in August, September, maybe pre-production in the summer."

Of course, this will all depend on Renner's recovery progress.

Renner plays Mike McClusky on Mayor of Kingstown. Shortly before season 2 aired, Renner got involved in a horrible snow plow accident at his home in Washoe County, Nevada last January 1.

The actor was airlifted to a nearby hospital following reports of "blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries." According to Renner's friend, Mayor Hillary Schieve, he got out of his snow plow to help a person in a stranded car. Unfortunately, his own snow plow, a PistenBully, started rolling and ran over his leg and other body parts. His neighbor, a doctor, was able to rush to his aid and apply a tourniquet until paramedics arrived.

TMZ reported that the machine is known for its extensive safety features. After the accident, the snow plow was impounded and the area was treated like an active crime scene. But after investigations, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said that this was "a tragic accident" and that they "do not suspect any foul play."

Following the concerns of fans that Renner could have lost his leg in the accident, the sheriff said that "at this point in the investigation we do not believe Mr. Renner was impaired at all."

Still, there are reports that Renner's leg was crushed by the PistenBully (which weighed at least 14,330 lbs.) and would need to be amputated. A doctor consulted by Radar Online said:

“Blunt chest trauma means he could have cracked his ribs. There could be heart damage.”

At this point, however, these are purely speculations. Nothing official has been announced and we continue to wish Renner a speedy recovery.
