Will Boruto Become a Villain?

The opening scene of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations made fans curious about the story itself. It was a fast-forward scene wherein fans can see a matured Boruto and Kawaki. Everything around them was in ruins.

While it has been confirmed that Kawaki is the antagonist of the story, fans have some theories that there is a possibility that Boruto can turn into a villain as the story progressed. It might not happen during the opening scene, but there is no assurance that the opening scene will also be the final arc of the story, so fans are not complacent about Boruto's character development.

Will Boruto Become a Villain?

Since the story of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is far from ending, we can't really say that Boruto will become a villain. There are still a lot of things to happen, and Kawaki was just recently introduced in the story.

This does not stop fans from speculating. Boruto has a karma seal, which is a gateway to revive the Otsutsuki members. Those who have the seal are the hosts made by the Otsutsuki members. With this, we can say that Boruto is a host of Momoshiki Otsutsuki.

The seal allows the Otsutsuki members to download data. When there is enough data, it will be overwritten. The Otsutsuki member will then override the host. There is a way out, though, and that is to kill the host.

If fans look back at the opening scene after knowing this information, the opening scene could indicate that the Otsutsuki was able to possess Kawaki fully while Boruto might be halfway there or was still processing.

But once Momoshiki takes full control of Boruto's body, there is a huge chance that Naruto's son can be a villain. Since there is no update about what will happen to that distinct future, what fans know is that Boruto will continue to protect his loved ones. He and the others might find a solution to this problem, but no one knows for sure when will that happen or if it will happen.

For now, fans will just have to watch the upcoming episodes of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations to get more updates on the story.
