We all have our favorite characters in Star Trek: The Next Generation but there is little doubt that Wesley Crusher is someone we related with. The character played by Wil Wheaton was basically a kid who grew up under along with the series, just like the rest of the viewers. So is it possible that Wesley will return now that Jean-Luc Picard is getting a new show?

Wheaton recently attended the Star Trek: The Next Generation panel at Awesome Con 2019 (via Trek News). Interestingly, the actor was asked if he would like to reprise his role as an adult Wesley in a new series where the character could be the captain of his own ship. Although Wheaton liked the idea, he was quick to point out that it might be too late for a Wesley show.

"I'm so grateful for why you're asking this question and that Wesley was so important to you…But I think the time for exploring that character has come and gone," he said.

Although a Wesley series might be out of the question, Wheaton is still keeping his doors open to the Star Trek Universe.

"I still love Star Trek so much that if they were to reach out to me for anything else I'd absolutely be interested in exploring that," he said.

We're certainly hoping that we haven't seen the last of Wesley just yet. Perhaps he could return in Stewart's new show and help Picard out for a bit. However, Wheaton's involvement in the Picard series has not yet been confirmed.
