Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek Already Has a Script

After Star Trek Beyond underperformed in the box office, a fourth movie was having a hard time getting off the ground. Things looked to get back into gear though, when it was announced that Quentin Tarantino would be making his own Trek movie. We haven't really gotten any significant updates in months, but Tarantino has just confirmed that he already has a script.

Talking to /Film, Tarantino was asked about the possibility of his Trek movie happening, and he says:

"It's a very big possibility. I haven't been dealing with those guys for a while cause I've been making [Once Upon a Time in Hollywood]. But we've talked about a story and a script. The script has been written and when I emerge my head like Punxsutawney Phil, post-Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, we'll pick up talking about it again."

Originally, it was said that Simon Pegg would be developing the script for Trek 4, but with Tarantino onboard, it's likely that he'll be the one writing the screenplay. I mean, if Tarantino is known for anything, it's definitely his signature way of writing dialogue. I guess the two could collaborate, with Pegg providing the story and Tarantino polishing up the dialogue. Then again, maybe Tarantino has his own plans.

Back then, it was said that Trek 4 will have something to do with time travel, and Chris Hemsworth was set to reprise his role as George Kirk. After Tarantino got onboard though, it seems like those plans were scrapped. Shame, since I would have loved to see Jim Kirk interacting with his father onscreen.

No release date has been set for the next Trek movie, but you can catch Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood when it hits theaters July 26.
