Here's Why Jujutsu Kaisen Apologized to China After Controversial Tweet

There is little doubt that Jujutsu Kaisen has been enjoying much success thanks to the franchise's numerous projects. However, there has also been some controversy after a tweet enrages Chinese netizens and led to the franchise apologizing for the now-deleted post. But why was it so important for Jujutsu Kaisen to apologize to China?

Last week, the official Jujutsu Kaisen Twitter account celebrated the international success of the anime film with an excited tweet. However, Chinese netizens were quick to criticize the post for calling Taiwan a country. The original tweet has since been deleted and replaced with a carefully-worded post as the franchise's Weibo account apologized for the error.

Naturally, people had different reactions to the tweet but some were also wondering why it was necessary to apologize for the post. Interestingly, it has been pointed out that Jujutsu Kaisen made the effort to do so since the movie is expected to be released in China in the future.

This isn't a huge surprise considering that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has not yet been released in certain territories around the globe. One of the few countries that hasn't seen the anime film yet is China and it is believed that the franchise is aiming to release the movie in the country in the next few months.

For now, it has not yet been confirmed whether Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will get a theatrical release in China. However, we could be getting an update about this very soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is based on Gege Akutami's one-shot manga that was originally titled Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School and serves as a prequel to the main series. The movie is currently screening in theaters across the globe.
