Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular ongoing shonen titles, and among its cast, Satoru Gojo is arguably one of the most popular. This is especially true internationally, as Gojo typically trends on X whenever he appears.
Despite his popularity, it seems that series creator Gege Akutami hates this fan-favorite character. This is a commonly held belief based on a series of author comments some years ago.
Back in late 2019 to early 2020, Gege mentioned in the Weekly Shonen Jump author comments section that Gojo doesn’t have a personality. He even went as far as to say that 2020 will be a good year as Gojo is gone.

Gege’s apparent hate for Gojo can also be proven by the fact that the character was out of commission for years. Recent manga leaks also reinforced this fan belief.

Why Gege Akutami Hates Gojo, Explained
Satoru Gojo is a unique shonen character. While there have been many overpowered characters in shonen titles, almost all of them are villains that serve as major roadblocks for the heroes.
Gojo being a good guy and the most powerful sorcerer is an interesting twist to the shonen formula. After all, the villains had to plan their attacks around him, especially in the story’s earlier arcs.
This is a possible reason Gege seems to hate Gojo a lot. The fact that he’s incredibly powerful can make writing the story difficult. It’s tough to give fights tension if the overpowered Gojo can beat anyone.
If this is indeed the case, then it makes sense why Gojo was sealed. After all, with Gojo out of the picture, it’ll be much easier to have fights where it’s not clear who will win.
Despite Gege’s apparent hate for Gojo, it’s undeniable that this fan favorite has been given a lot of love in the anime. This is based on how well the scenes featuring Gojo have been animated in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2.
