In case you missed the essential pre-Ahsoka viewing, Ahsoka Tano used to be Anakin Skywalker's padawan.

She started training with him when she was 14, and Anakin was about 19.

Initially, Anakin didn't even want a padawan, but Yoda wisely decided to pair them together to teach Anakin responsibility.

You can say that Ahsoka and Anakin had much in common, as they're both talented, reckless, impatient, and unconventional Jedi with a disregard for rigid rules.

At first, these common qualities worked against them. They were too young, and a little too similar to stand each other.

But their master-apprentice bond bloomed, and, soon, they were inseparable, which makes their later history all the more tragic.

Early on, Ahsoka nicknames Ahsoka "Snips," as a way to express his annoyance at her "snippy" attitude.

Moreover, Anakin was trying to find a comeback as Ahsoka -- who seems to have had a similar sense of humor, started calling him "Sky Guy," an ironic reference to his own surname.

It might be hard to picture adult Ahsoka being called "Snips" but teenage Ahsoka was short-tempered, impatient, and slightly rude.

She soon developed and grew as a character, so these attributes were toned down quite a bit. Even so, the name remained, as far as Anakin was concerned.

It's so quiet that you might miss it, but sharp-eared fans, or those who use subtitles, noticed the playful greeting "Hey, Snips," at the end of Ahsoka episode 4, just before Anakin and Ahsoka's reunion.

So, what does this mean?

While the moment doesn't need to have a special meaning other than a warm, fuzzy feeling for fans of Clone Wars, it could be significant for Ahsoka's arc.

In Star Wars Rebels Ahsoka and Anakin departed on very bad terms. In fact, he might have killed her for good if Ezra Bridger hadn't saved her in the World Between Worlds.

It was in that mystical plane that Ahsoka first realized she would never be able to save her former master for himself.

Now, she sees him again in the same place, as Anakin this time, rather than Darth Vader.

Anakin's greeting could signal a reparation of their bond -- even after Anakin's death. This would provide much-needed closure that Ahsoka was never able to get before.

We can't wait to see if this is the case in the next Ahsoka episodes!
