Finbar Murphy (played by Liam Neeson) was an assassin who liked to work discreetly. Although Finbar is seeking a peaceful normal life in a coastal Irish town, he couldn't turn a blind eye on Curtis June.

Finbar meets the barkeeper's daughter, Moya (Michelle Gleeson), and keeps a close watch on her, given his attachment to the people he's (rarely) close to.

The thing is, Finbar notices the few scars and bruises on Moya's back, making him wonder how much the poor girl is traumatized from the punishments at home.

When he drops off Moya at their caravan, she's frozen still at the thought she may get "scolded" again.

Finbar initially thinks her mother punishes the poor girl too much until he realizes that the punisher is none other than the man staying with Moya — Curtis.

Once his friend, the barkeeper, reveals that Curtis and his group turned out to be a bunch of terrorists, the former assassin forms a plan.

He kidnaps Curtis and shoots him dead with his own hands, getting rid of the man who constantly abused Moya in her own home.

What is In The Land of Saints and Sinners About?

Although In the Land of Saints and Sinners has Finbar Murphy feeling guilty about the number of lives he stole, the story goes beyond his redemption arc from being a contract assassin.

Despite his brief stay in town, Finbar Murphy is forced to choose between exposing his secret identity and saving his local friends in the film.

The flick first premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival on September 6 last year but is now available in select theaters.
