Who Will Be in Scream 6?

While Scream (2022) was only released a few months ago, the upcoming sequel Scream 6 (working title) is already moving fast. There are no plot specifics, of course, but there has been plenty of news lately around casting. So who will be in Scream 6?

Scream (2022) directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will be returning to helm the upcoming sequel, which was green-lit on February 3, this year, just weeks after the release of the fifth film in the meta slasher series.

The new sequel is scheduled for release on March 23, next year, and it looks like most of the creative team is set to return. Not only that, but many cast members themselves will be reprising their respective characters.

So who will be in Scream 6?

Warning: There are major spoilers ahead for Scream (2022)!

Jenna Ortega

Jenna Ortega will be reprising her role as Tara Carpenter, having first appeared in Scream (2022). The sister of that film's "final girl" Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera), Tara is the first character to survive a Scream opening scene.

While brutally attacked by Ghostface, she was used as bait by the two killers to draw her sister back to Woodsboro, so that she could serve as a new final girl, replacing Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell).

Melissa Barrera

To no surprise, Melissa Barrera will also be returning as Sam Carpenter. In Scream (2022), it is revealed that Sam is the illegitimate daughter of original Ghostface killer Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich).

Throughout the movie, she has hallucinations of her dead psychotic father, which ends up helping her dispose of new Ghostface killer Richie Kirsch (Jack Quaid). However, while doing so, Sam displayed her own psychotic tendencies.

Having survived Scream (2022), it will also come as no surprise that Courteney Cox will be playing Gale Weathers, which will be her sixth appearance in the series. Cox confirmed this in March after being sent an early script for the film.

At the end of that film, having lost the love of her life Dewey Riley (David Arquette) to one of the Ghostface killers, Gale decided she no longer wanted to write about Woodsboro murders, so that the killers could die in anonymity.

Scream 2022

It wouldn't be a Scream movie without Neve Campbell reprising her role as perhaps the best final girl in the slasher genre, Sidney Prescott (and the most successful too). Campbell expressed a desire to return back in January.

Sidney has suffered a lot at the hands of the many Ghostface killers, and the only reason she returned to Woodsboro in Scream (2022) was to protect her husband and family. But why would she return for a sixth time..?

Mason Gooding

While many characters often come close to meeting their maker in the Scream movies, it's fair to say that no one came quite as close in Scream (2022) as Mason Gooding's Chad Meeks, the nephew of Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy).

Fortunately, the Woodsboro teen - who is nowhere near as annoying as some of the other characters - was shown to be alive in the back of an ambulance as the film was wrapping up, and has now been confirmed to be returning.

Jasmin Savoy Brown has also been confirmed to be returning as character Mindy Meeks, the twin sister of Chad Meeks. She was also brutally attacked during the third act of Scream (2022), but also lived to tell the tale.

Mindy Meeks was portrayed as the "Randy" of the latest movie, highlighting that the Woodsboro teens were living a real-life "requel" - neither a reboot nor sequel but somewhere in between.

Scream 4

Scream 4

Despite the fact that Wes Craven directed Scream 4, it remains the worst out of all five Scream movies to date, even if it does have one of the best Ghostface killers in Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts).

Another positive takeaway is Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere). Fans were devastated when she was stabbed during the third act, and had to wait 10 years for confirmation that she survived, which comes in the form of a blink-and-you'll-miss-it YouTube thumbnail in the latest movie.

And now, just the day after it was confirmed that Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Jenna Ortega will be returning for Scream 6, it was confirmed that Hayden Panettiere will also be reprising her role as Kirby Reed.

Roger Jackson

It goes without saying that the voice of Ghostface will be returning for Scream 6. Roger Jackson has voiced the character of Ghostface (in the mask and on the phone) in all five Scream movies to date, and Scream 6 will be no exception.

What is a mystery is how many new Ghostface killers there will be this time around. So far, between all five films, we've had nine killers, with Scream 3 being the only entry to have featured just one killer.
