Who Rey Might Fight in Star Wars: Episode VIII Possibly Revealed

Right now, we've only seen roughly 6 seconds of Star Wars: Episode VIII, which was part of a production announcement, and it only showed Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) starting at nothing. That's means that we still know nothing in the sequel to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. A new rumor about Episode VIII has surfaced online, and it's about REy possibly fighting a sea monster as part of her training on the island of Ahch-To.

At the end of The Force Awakens, we saw Rey going to the remote island with R2-D2 and Chewbacca to search for Luke Skywalker, who has been missing for years. When she finds him, she hands him the lightsaber, then the credits roll. So far, we've heard that Episode VIII will start where The Force Awakens ended, and Luke will end up training Rey.

Now, MakingStarWars shared some intriguing details that reveal that her training involves fighting a "rather large sea monster," and possibly earns the right to stay in Ahch-To as a result of winning the fight.

The site mentions that Luke has a special connection with the animals on the island, but Rey doesn't. Luke's minions are being described as bird-like creatures with razor-sharp teeth, and they resemble the Gremlins. The site says that Rey will have to convince the creatures to let her stay so she can train with Luke.

That sounds exciting, and it makes me wonder how long Rey and Luke will stay in Ahch-To.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to release in theaters on December 15, 2017.
