Who is the Batman in Batman Beyond? Identity Explained


Batman Beyond, which is also known as Batman of the Future in Latin America, Africa, Europe, Australia, and Asia. He is an American superhero in the animated television series which is developed by Bruce Timm, Alan Burnett, and Paul Dini. The series is produced by Warner Brothers Animation. The series began airing on January 10, 1999, ending its run on December 18, 2001.

Batman Beyond got a cult following. The show explored the darker side of Batman. It focused on elements such as personal relations, emotions, fear of the unknown, and many more. It went deeper into Bruce Wayne's psychology.

The series is known to be much darker than most of the other children's programs and animated shows at the time.

In the Batman world, most people know that Batman's alter-ego is Bruce Wayne. However, in Batman Beyond, Bruce Wayne is not the main Batman. The second Batman is Terry McGinnis. Bruce Wayne is the original Batman who later became Terry's employer, predecessor, and mentor. Bruce guides Terry through the Batcomputer.

In a final mission as Batman, 20 years before the events of the story in Batman Beyond, Bruce suffered a heart attack that almost cost his life which forced him to use a gun as self-defense. After using the weapon that took his parents' life, he reluctantly left his life as Batman.

The main Batman in Batman Beyond is Terry McGinnis. He is the second Batman. A high school student and former delinquent. Under the cover of working for Bruce, Terry also fights crime as the new Batman. He chose to be the new Dark Knight as he also shared the same loss that Bruce had which is losing a parent.

In Terry's tenure as Batman, he meets Bruce's old friend and ally Superman. He also met the Justice League and even received an offer to join the team but he declined. He later joined the team as an adult but on a part-time basis.
