Who Is Ryu Sasakura in Bartender: Glass of God?
Ryu Sasakura is the main protagonist in both Bartender: Glass of God and the original Bartender 2006 anime.
He is a 29-year-old skilled bartender who worked as the head bartender at Sky Bar, a bar on the top floor of the five-star Ratz Hotel on the outskirts of Paris.
In addition, he won first place at the International Cocktail Competition in Europe.
Sasakura returned to Japan and resumed working as a bartender at Edenhall, a small yet charming pub in Ginza with an inconsistent schedule but an outstanding selection.
In the first episode of the new anime, Kurushima and Higuchi are amazed by Sasakura's bartending abilities and attempt to test him out.
He not only exceeded their expectations, but he also unknowingly convinced them that he was the one they were looking for for the bartender position at Hotel Cardinal's authentic counter-type bar.

Unlike the other 30 bartenders who applied for Hotel Cardinal and were turned down by the Business Planning Division, Ryu Sasakura possesses exceptional bartending talents that can entice customers to return.

He can easily analyze his customers as if he can read their deepest thoughts and desires.
Most significantly, he puts a lot of effort into his drinks that no one can predict what he has in mind when creating the cocktails and beverages he serves to his customers.
In the manga series, Sasakura's drinks are known as the God's Glass because they are unexpectedly full of exquisite flavor.
The chairman of Hotel Cardinal even urged Kurushima and Higuchi to find someone who could produce God's Glass, although he never said what it was.
All he said was that Higuchi and Kurushima would know what God's Glass was once they tried it.
True enough, when Kurushima and Higuchi tested Sasakura's abilities, they quickly grasped what God's Glass was and why the bartender was the best candidate for the job at the hotel.
