Meghan Markle’s life has dramatically changed after marrying Prince Harry and becoming the Duchess of Sussex. But before becoming a part of the royal family, she was a Hollywood princess with a regular life.

So, get to know more about Meghan’s life before marrying into a royal family and becoming as controversial as she is today.

Meghan Markle’s Early Life on TV

The 41-year-old’s father, Thomas Markle, was an Emmy award-winning lighting director who would often bring Meghan to his shows’ set.

"Every day after school for 10 years, I was on the set of Married ... with Children, which is a really funny and perverse place for a little girl in a Catholic school uniform to grow up," she told Esquire in 2013. "There were a lot of times my dad would say, 'Meg, why don't you go and help with the craft services room over there? This is just a little off-color for your 11-year-old eyes.'"

A Young Feminist

At 11, Meghan was working on an assignment about commercials when she saw an Ivory dishwashing soap ad solely aimed at women.

"I don't think it's right for kids to grow up thinking these things, that just Mom does everything," she said, per People.

She wrote a letter to the most powerful people at the time, changing the slogan from “Women all over America” to “People all over America.”

Starting Yoga at Seven

Having a yoga instructor mother, Meghan developed a love for yoga at a young age. The two started a mother-and-daughter yoga at seven.

"I was very resistant as a kid, but she said, 'Flower, you will find your practice – just give it time,'" she told Best Health Magazine. "In college, I started doing it more regularly."

A Theater Nerd

Meghan has loved acting, ending up having a double major in theater and international relations in Evanston, Illinois.

She joined the sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma and went to the students’ favorite late-night eat spot, Burger King, helping her put on the Freshman Fifteen.

A Deal or No Deal Briefcase Girl

Before becoming an actress, she was a Deal or No Deal briefcase girl.

"I was the ill-fated number 26, which for some reason no one would ever choose," she told Esquire in 2013. "I would end up standing up there forever in these terribly uncomfortable and inexpensive five-inch heels, just waiting for someone to pick my number so I could go and sit down."

Starting Her Acting Career

Come 2002, Meghan started acting and became a part of the movies Horrible Bosses, Get Him to Greek, and Remember Me, among others.

She was also seen in General Hospital, Castle, and Suits, to name a few.

A Calligraphy Artist

Meghan used to be a calligraphy artist, doing it as her side gig.

"I think handwritten notes are a lost art form," she told Good Housekeeping in 2016. She worked for Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s wedding invitations back then and Dolce & Gabbana’s celebrity holiday correspondence.

The Owner of the Lifestyle Blog, The Tig

Meghan is also famous for being the owner of the now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig. Sadly, she had to put down the site when she married Prince Harry in 2018.
