George RR Martin's worlds introduced new accents and languages to learn, but fans cannot put their finger on White Worm's accent. They found it excruciating to listen to in the first season, and by House of the Dragon season 2, her accent has changed again. Why is that?
House of the Dragon Fans Couldn't Bear Mysaria's Accent in Season 1
Mysaria, also known as White Worm (played by Sonoya Mizuno), had ventured off from being Prince Daemon Targaryen's sex worker to becoming an unofficial mistress of whisperers to Rhaenyra for Team Black.
As her title suggests, this requires her to speak most of the time in her limited on-screen appearances since House of the Dragon season 1. However, upon her debut, fans found her accent quite strange.
Some were mortified that White Worm's accent was 'acceptable', considering that her inconsistency to stick to one accent 'ruins the immersive atmosphere.'
From others' point of view, though, Mysaria's accent in House of the Dragon reminds them of Shae (Sibel Kekilli), who also worked as a sex worker from Lorath, which could indicate keeping consistency within the worldbuilding of Westeros.
Still, Mysaria's accent fails to emulate the illusion of residing in the fictional world.
By the new season, however, fans grew suspicious at yet another change to Mizuno's character. So, why is Mysaria's accent different in House of the Dragon season 2?

Season 2 Addresses White Worm's Accent by 'Fixing' It
House of the Dragon showrunners have yet to address why White Worm's accent changed in season 2, however, fans surmised this was to address the initial criticisms Sonoya Mizuno's performance faced in the first season.
Since Mysaria has grown to a more crucial role this second season, it's only right that the show finally addressed the accent, leaving fans more satisfied with the change.
Mysaria has transformed into a more prominent figure, leaving an impression that she is no longer the same 'White Worm' Westeros has known her to be in season 1.
However, this is one of the least divisive changes that House of the Dragon season 2 did from George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
